Corporate Tyranny

Thanks to privatization, corporations now control every aspect of our lives: the food we eat; the water we drink; the air we breathe; they control congress, and no politician gets elected without the help of corporations so the president is under their control as well; they own every significant media outlet which means the media is just their marketing division; they control our healthcare system; and since they employ us they control all aspects of our employment and livelihood too: in short corporations are the new tyranny. Corporatocracy defined

I was introduced to the word "corporatocracy" in John Perkins’ book: Confessions of an Economic Hit Man.  The corporatocracy as described by Perkins is the merger of big corporations, international banks, and government. These three “pillars of the corporatocracy” allow the rich to intermingle within these three spheres and control all aspects of our so-called democracy.  “Plutocracy”, government of the rich, is a more accurate term and has been used by Ralph Nadar for years. However, I prefer “corporatocracy” because it essentially means the same as plutocracy but keeps us, the citizens, focused on who is reaping all the benefits in this country: the corporations.
This portion of the website will be dedicated to helping the US Citizen identify and understand the corporatocracy as well as to keep a watchful eye on it in our daily lives.

Here is Wikipedia’s description of Perkin’s “Corporatocracy”:

Corporatocracy is also used by John Perkins in his 2004 book Confessions of an Economic Hit Man to describe a system of governance controlled by "big corporations, international banks, and government" (Perkins / Plume paperback edition, 94). Harking back to the "military-industrial complex", Perkins sees the corporatocracy manifested in the following cycle: (more...)

Corporations serve Mammon

I like the teachings of Christ because he was obviously a humanitarian.  I use his words here and throughout this site because they apply perfectly to the theme of this site. Jesus tried to teach us how to get along with one another in peace.  Whether or not you believe that Jesus actually existed and spoke these words doesn’t matter as much as understanding the message.  So, please don’t dismiss the message just because you don’t believe in the messenger.  Following is a case in point. Why “they” hate “us”.  Story of the “EHMs”

After the attacks on 9/11, many citizens in the US, many in the Christian Right included, were bewildered as to why anyone would attack “us”, a peaceful nation that brings nothing but peace and democracy to all nations.  The people in the USA began to ask over and over, “why do they hate us?”  If a Christian was truly a Christian and had faith in God the way Job had faith in God there would be no need to answer the question “why do they hate us” because the question would never be asked.  Have faith, turn the other cheek and praise God. Since that is not what happened and everyone wants to know how anyone could hate our good and perfect country, let’s take a look. (more...)

Wal-Mart muscles employees to vote its will

If you were Wal-Mart wouldn't you want all of your employees to vote in a way that helps you improve your bottom line at the expense of all other considerations? (more...)

The Modern Day Scrooge
If Dickens were writing today about the conditions of the citizens versus that of their employer, his “Scrooge” would be corporations.  However, Dickens’ efforts to reform corporations would fail. Corporate people recognized years ago that they, like Scrooge, might one day grow a heart. They used their lawyers to ensure that they would never have a Scrooge-like conversion, even if they wanted too. (more)
